Reference of September 23, 1998

"Dear Mr. Trabold,

We would like to report the successful application of your oil fine filters. We have been applying in our motor vehicles TRABOLD fine filters since September 1994. In the meantime we have equipped 12 Daimler-Benz trucks with TRABOLD filters. They have been running about 1,5 million kilometers (about 1 million miles) without oil change and without engine failure. Cost reduction, the reliability of your filter system and the environmental benefits have convinced us of the superiority of your product.

From this time on we will equip all our new motor vehicles with TRABOLD fine filter.

We highly appreciate the use of your filter and we recommend it to others.

Yours sincerely

From Mr. Juergen Wilcke, owner of the "Luneburger Heide" Boat

As you could have verified on the base of your own notes, my passenger boat called "Luneburger Heide" is equipped since January 1997 with Trabold filter for keeping lubrication oils clean for the boat's engines: four MAN engines and one Hatz engine.

My modern passenger boat sails primarily on the upper section of the river Elbe, in the Hamburg Harbor and on some side affluent. She has a license for 300 passengers.

In this time period the MAN engines and the Hatz engine, with the Trabold filters, have been running about 5800 and 3900 operational hours respectively. We could confirm the following statements of Trabold Filter GmbH:

The engines have been running smoothly, without any failure and more quietly.

Exhaust gases seem to be optically cleaner, soot information has been reduced.

Operational costs related to lubrication and oil consumption as well as maintenance have been greatly reduced due mainly to the elimination of oil change and to simple filter treatment.

Based on our experiences, and because of its environmental benefits, the application of this type of filter is strongly recommended and, especially for boat operation, because of the reduction of spent lubrication oil quantity.

With kindest regards

Jurgen Wilcke

Application of TRABOLD filters

"Dear Mr. Trabold,

We would like to report the successful application of your oil fine filters. We have equipped 100 motor vehicles with TRABOLD fine filters since June 1997. The filters have been mounted into our new vehicles (they have been added to our fleet in the last three years). The types of motor vehicles included Opel Astra, Opel Corsa, VW-T4, VW LT 35 and DB 200 E. These motor vehicles have made in the meantime about 3 million kilometers (about 2 million miles) without oil change and engine failure.

The reliability, cost reduction (oil, diesel fuel, workshop) and, first of all, environmental aspects of using your filter system have convinced us of its superiority.

All new motor vehicles at the Deutsche Telekom AG Schwäbisch Hall Division will be equipped with TRABOLD fine filters. Your filter system can be highly recommended to other users.

Yours sincerely

Gerhard Frey mb."

Reinhard WATZEK motor mechanic, in his service workshop in Hamburg has mounted more than two hundred TRABOLD filters into motor vehicles. He wrote on February 17, 1997, the following: "We understand from the response of our customers that they have been much satisfied with TRABOLD filters:
  • No technical problems occured in the engine and in other units that can be related with the filter
  • On the other hand, they reported more quiet running and fuel saving
  • After installing the filter neither vehicle needed oil change."

Excerpt from the letter of R. STRIPP GmbH, Sulzbach/M, of October 28, 1994.:

"Since the beginning of 1994, our two transporter trucks type Peugeot J5 Turbo Diesel have been using your TRABOLD oil fine filters. One of them has completed about 220,000 miles. We have not changed oil in these vehicles yet but only filter cartridge, in proper periods. The advantages reported are:

  1. Saving of about 85% in oil, resulting in substantial cost reduction
  2. Engine performance has not changed
  3. No problem with spent oil treatment
  4. Shorter maintenance times."

Pinneberg Mass Transit Ltd.

Trabold filter systems in large autobus "Mercedes Benz 447914 engine type series"

"Dear Mr. Trabold,

We inform you on our experiences gathered through several years with the Trabold fine oil filters..

Since mid-1994 at the Pinneberg Mass Transit Ltd six motor vehicles, large buses, have been running with the above oil fine filters. The engines have made as much as approximately 1.25 million miles without any trouble with the vehicles or their engines.

We have been visually inspecting the filter devices and taking oil samples between each 20,000 and 30,000 miles running cycle which are subsequently carefully examined in our laboratory. According to the laboratory results, in spite of the long use of the oil (we have not changed the oil up to date) no negative phenomena have occurred. In short, we are much satisfied with Trabold’s filter system that we can recommend to others.

Yours sincerely

Support of TRABOLD filter by public agencies

The Environmental Protection Agency of the Hanza town Hamburg has supported the installation of 200 oil fine filters during 1994 and 1995. The Agency did not specify the manufacturer of the fine filters. The selection of the manufacturer was the duty of the workshops participating in the project, and they decided to purchase TRABOLD filters. The Environmental Protection Agency made a condition for its support of 150 DM for each filter to conduct a survey, together with the partners, of the users’ comments by questionnaires. The realization of the project offered an opportunity to gather supplementary information on the experiences with oil fine filtering technology from actual users obtained during traffic practices which could be used as background for contradictional discussions related with the application of by-pass flow loop oil fine filters. The support made also a special point of the importance of reasonable waste management. The experiences of 198 filter users have been evaluated scientifically and published by the „NORDIG” research institute for health and prevention support.

The main results achieved by the test are:

  • During the test period no filter-related engine failure occurred. Almost 60% of the drivers made more than 15,000 miles, and 18% of them more than 25,000 miles.
  • In the test period fuel saving per vehicle was 0.44 l/100 km. In addition, each motor vehicle equipped with TRABOLD filter used in average 11.8 l less lubrication oil annually than those with conventional systems.
  • The overwhelving majority of the participants in the project were satisfied with the TRABOLD filter, and they would have it installed again; some of them even expressed their wish to regulate by law the introduction of this type of filters.

And why do they change oil?

The TRABOLD filter is important both for saving natural resources and in stabilizing climatic conditions. Spent oil is usually not recycled but used as fuel for combustion and thus polluting the Earth’s atmosphere. With TRABOLD filters the problems of spent oil disposal in the sea (the disposal of spent oil stock of ships) could be avoided effectively. By using TRABOLD filter globally, an unvaluable contribution to the protection of our natural environment could be achieved. Saving the world’s petroleum reserves would, however, also mean a reduction of the petroleum industry business. It is the reason why the petroleum industry does not receive TRABOLD filtering technology with a tremendous enthusiasm.

In spite of the cost saving and the fact that the TRABOLD filter has been qualified by its users unambigously as an excellent product, the automobile industry shows no interest for the filter. It seems rather that car manufacturers and their subcontractors would try to develop their own oil fine filter, though the patented TRABOLD filter has been tested thousand times and it is ripe for mass production. In addition, automobile service stations and garages are also interested in oil change, since it means good business for them.

It is also a favourable fact that, in addition to private and industry users, some motorway directorates have introduced the application of the TRABOLD filter. The same applies to many municipal construction and maintenance companies, to municipal or local public utilities, and to safety-sensitive fields of fire-fighting and ambulance services.

Guarantees and product warranty

For installing TRABOLD filter, no approval of the automobile manufacturer is needed. Its installation is not accompanied by structural intervention that might make such approval necessary. Installation can be done by anyone.

For this work no special automobile workshop is needed.

There is no legal basis for denouncing general warranty liabilities by the manufacturer after the installation of a TRABOLD filter, and as for our best knowledge, no such case occurred. It would be a legal basis for denouncing the automobile manufacturer’s warranty liabilities if the failure could be attributed by evidences to the TRABOLD filter as the primary reason of causing the defect. Manufacturers, of course, should not bear any warranty or liability for TRABOLD filter installed subsequently.

The Trabold Filter GmbH bears a three-year warranty by its own conditions to the filter case.

For any damage caused by the application of the filter, operational and product warranty insurance exists with the Allianz Versicherungs AG insurance company, with a coverage of personal damages up to 3,000,000 DM and of property damages up to 2,000,000 DM for each damage case. Insurance protection covers throughout the world by both industrial and personal claims, and it includes claims for several years as formulated by the product warranty law in the BGB (German Civil Law Book).
